Hi everyone. I’m afraid I have some poor news: it’s come to my attention that one of the students who attended our class last Monday night (Mon May 2nd) has tested positive for COVID.

It’s not clear if the student was infected & infectious when they were in class on Monday night, but it’s possible.

The good news is that the student’s symptoms are very light, and they don’t seem to be in any danger. Hooray for that!

The other good news is that the student was masked during the whole class, and the person who worked most closely with them during class has also been tested; that test came back negative. So it doesn’t appear to have spread along that vector, at least. I’ve just taken a rapid test myself, which has also come back negative.

Nevertheless, if you were in class last Monday night, please do get yourself tested if at all possible! I

I KNOW that’s a real hassle for many of us, but please make the effort if you possibly can. As a group, we have some especially vulnerable people in our immediate community, and it would just be great if we could all do our part to help each other stay safe, and stop the spread.

If your test comes back positive, please consider letting me know, provided you’re comfortable with that. The more information we have, the smarter decisions we can make about how to keep everyone safe. I should add that unless the situation changes, class will proceed as normal this coming Monday night (May 9th) – but obviously, please stay away if you’re untested or experiencing symptoms!

Many thanks, everyone. It’s great to be in a group where people are willing to go out of their way to help each other.
