Starting Friday, may 1st and running until June 12th, our next class will be a 6 week introduction to the 18th century smallsword!
When someone calls you a liar, the only *reasonable* way to defend your honor is a duel to the death. Taught by Ben Kiss, this smallsword class focuses on competitive smallsword combat in one-shot duels. It will cover the 17th-18th c teachings of Domenico Angelo and Sir William Hope, with some modern foil and epee strategies mixed in.
While the primary goal of this class is to put the smallsword in NHHF hands, drilling footwork and learning theory behind blade control in a bind will be applicable to a wide array of weapons. Smallsword simulators will be provided if you don’t have one (rapiers can be acceptable substitutes), and required gear for drills and games is a mask, gorget, jacket, groin protection, and light gloves (medium and heavy gloves acceptable but not recommended)
Saber class will continue to run for 3 weeks until smallsword class starts, and smallsword class will pause for one week for our multiweapon tournament on May 15th.
