Over the weekend a bunch of us from New Haven Historical Fencing had a great time at an excellent event held by Per La Vita Academy of Western Martial Arts and Thames River Historical Fencing.
Also: our crew did really well! Four announcements:
1) Our very own Justin WON the tournament (and thus won a new sword with a custom scabbard)! Nice work, Justin!
2) Our very own John won the award for the fencer who fenced the most people. Nice work, John!
3) Our very own other John won the final Monarch of the Mountain. Nice work, John!
4) Most importantly, everyone seemed to have a good time. Nice work, team!
If you were one of the organizers or judges, and you’re reading this, huge thanks! It takes soooo much hard work to organize and run something like this, and there is no appreciable reward except the joy of having the event run well, and the love of your peers. As far as I could see, the event ran brilliantly – and in any case, big love from over here!
There’s a nice video of some rough-and-tumble highlights at this link, if you’re willing to log into Facebook: https://fb.watch/sb2vX05cBP/
